Refrigerator Tips, Tricks, and Guideline
When it comes to taking care of your refrigerator, one thing is commonly forgotten. Capacity. While your refrigerator may look like it can handle the last bag of veggies you bought from the grocery store, it most likely cannot. When overstuffing your freezer with food, it is very likely that one may block a main air vent. In due time, this will cause your freezer to develop an ice build up, causing problems (costly repairs) throughout the machine. Take the time to thoroughly clean your refrigerator every couple months to make sure no food has fallen behind any shelves or drawers. Anything covering an air vent can cause problems in a refrigerator.
Do you have debris coming from your water dispenser on your refrigerator? If so, you may need a new water filter. In Carroll County, we have a hard water problem. It is recommended that the user switches out the water filter in their refrigerator every 6 months to make sure that it is not being clogged with debris. If your water isn’t crystal clear coming from the dispenser of your refrigerator, it may be time to replace the water filter. It would be wise to have an extra water filter, or two, available.
Sometimes a refrigerator’s display board may start acting funny. This could be due to a power surge, a wiring issue, or that a part is not communicating correctly with the control board. Unplug your machine for 5-10 minutes and plug it back in. If the problem persists, call us (443-847-8434).
Do you have a problem with your refrigerator continually making ice? Does the Ice consistently overflow in the ice bin? The best way to put a grasp on this problem would be to manually turn the ice maker on and off. When you go to grab ice cubes for your drink, look to see if your ice bin is becoming full. If it is indeed becoming full, turn off your ice maker and wait until you need it to make more before you turn it back on.
